Questions

Answers to common questions

How fast can a tree be removed after I call?

It depends on the provider, the season and how many jobs are ahead of them. A tree on a house or blocking a driveway usually gets priority. Many providers can respond quickly to urgent jobs, but no one can promise a time. Request a callback to check provider availability, then ask each one for a clear arrival window.

What should I do first if a tree falls on my house?

Stay calm and get everyone out of the area. Keep away from the tree, and treat any downed line as live. Call emergency services if someone is hurt or a wire is down. Then take photos from a safe spot. Once things are safe, ask a provider about emergency tree removal.

Can I cut down a tree myself to save money?

A small tree on open ground may be a fair DIY job. Anything tall, leaning, near the house or close to power lines is a different story. Falling limbs and kickback cause serious injuries. Compare a written quote against the cost of a mistake, such as a damaged roof, fence or stucco wall. Price follows the job.

What affects the price of tree removal?

Size, height and condition of the tree matter most. Access matters too, since a tight backyard takes more work than an open front lawn. Hauling, stump work and nearby wires add cost. Typical U.S. jobs range from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Get it in writing before you agree.

Is stump grinding included in the quote?

Not always. Many providers price the tree and the stump separately. Ask whether the quote covers grinding, how deep it goes and who hauls away the wood chips. Comparing two quotes only works if both list the same items.

Will my insurance pay for storm tree clearance?

It might, but it depends on your policy. Some policies may cover sudden damage, such as a tree that falls on a roof. Removing a healthy tree you simply dislike is usually not covered. Check your policy, and ask providers to help document the damage with photos and a written description for a claim.

How many estimates should I get?

Two or three is a fair number for most jobs. That gives you a feel for the normal range without wasting your week. Ask each provider the same questions and compare the line items, not only the total. You can request an estimate through us with no obligation, and take your time deciding.

What should I ask a tree falling service before hiring?

Ask whether they carry insurance and can show proof. Ask who is on site, what is included, and how cleanup is handled. Ask about payment terms and whether the quote is written. Providers in our network are independent, so each one sets its own terms. A clear answer to simple questions is a good sign.
